Madera Cork – A Natural Cover Material 0
Madera Cork – A Natural Cover Material

Madera Cork is a natural bookbinding cork that has been part of our range for quite some time. It is not a new product, but some materials only reveal their true potential when you see them used on a finished product.

Madera is definitely one of them.

Its natural cork structure gives every cover a slightly different appearance. The surface feels warm and natural and immediately distinguishes the finished product from traditional paper coverings or bookbinding cloths.

Natural material, modern result

Cork is usually associated with natural, minimalistic and understated designs. But it does not have to be limited to this style.

For our latest notebook projects, we combined the natural surface of Madera Cork with colourful printing.

The result is a very interesting contrast between the irregular structure of natural cork and modern, vibrant graphics.

The colours stand out beautifully against the cork surface, while the natural structure of the material remains visible and becomes an important part of the overall design.

Every cover has its own character

One of the most distinctive features of Madera bookbinding cork is its natural and slightly irregular structure.

You do not get a perfectly uniform surface – and that is exactly the point.

Small variations in the cork pattern mean that every notebook, album, menu cover or box can look slightly different. This gives finished products a more individual and authentic character.

Cork does not have to be boring

Madera Cork is an excellent choice for natural and minimalist designs, but our latest projects show that its possibilities go much further.

Combining natural cork with colourful printing makes it possible to create a product that is at the same time:

  • natural,
  • modern,
  • distinctive,
  • pleasant to the touch,
  • and completely different from a typical cover material.

This makes Madera an interesting cork covering material for notebooks, calendars, albums, menu covers, boxes, packaging and many other bookbinding applications where the appearance and texture of the cover play an important role.

A familiar material seen from a new perspective

Sometimes you do not need a completely new material. You simply need a new idea for a material you already know.

Madera Cork is a great example of how a natural bookbinding material can be both elegant and understated, but also colourful, modern and eye-catching.

After seeing the results on finished notebooks, we definitely started looking at Madera in a different way.
